Have I mentioned that I love Thailand?
After sleeping in the airport Saturday night, we took an early flight to Chiang Mai Sunday morning. We landed, took a taxi to our hotel, threw on a skirt and headed towards church. We walked in the general direction, through some random streets and hoped we'd find it. Myra was nervous we wouldn't make it...But we turned the corner and there was a sign pointing the direction to it and a Thai girl walking dressed up with an Ensign in hand.
It was fun going to church in Thai. They had headsets and the missionaries translated for us. They gave us English hymn books so that we could sing along. Everyone was very nice and the spirit was definitely there in that meeting.
After sacrament meeting, we were starving so we walked down the road and found this cute Cafe - Dada Cafe. I ordered some Pad Thai and of course more mango sticky rice...and smoothie!

We wandered around Chiang Mai for a bit. Stopping in several of the temples they have throughout the city...
Lots of Buddhas...
\
Lots of Monks....
On our way back to the hotel we got more smoothies..... So delicious, but this might have been overdoing it! :)
We got back to our hotel and we were planning on changing and then making out way up to Doi Suthep. A temple up the mountain in Chiang Mai. There were a couple of guys at the hotel just checking it out so we asked them to take our picture in front of our cute hotel....
I asked them what the best way was to get up to the temple. Before I knew it they were offering us a ride on their motorbikes since they were going to head that way anyway.
So.... we got changed and hopped on the back of their motorbikes and headed up the mountain with them.. I grabbed on tight to this strangers waist and off we went! It was SO much fun!
This is Will- the guy whose waist I was holding on to for dear life. He and his friends live in Thailand and teach English. I'm kind of jealous of them.... We talked the whole way up the mountain and it was fun to hear about life in Thailand.
It was raining pretty much the whole ride up which made the roads a little slippery. But they were really safe (minus the whole no helmet part). We made it up in one piece! So nice of them to offer to do that. They headed on their way and we went up the elevator to the Temple. This temple:
The view. Which cleared up right before we were about to go back down the mountain. Chiang Mai is so beautiful!!!

Inside the temple. Reminded me of some of the temples I went to in Bangkok a few years ago. Just not as big. And much prettier surroundings.

Kinda how I was feeling after traveling for 36 hours straight and walking around alllllll day!!!

We took a taxi back down to Chiang Mai. The cutest little family shared the mini bus taxi with us. They were so sweet. They kept feeding us corn and peanuts and we tried communicating with their broken English.
XX
The taxi dropped us off by the night market!!! This market was massive! It went on and on and on! I'm not exaggerating one bit! Myra and I thought we would never make it out.
XX
But they did sell some amazing Banana pancakes.....
XX
which we definitely tried! So delicious! :)
XX
On a Tuk Tuk back to our hotel.... we look happy (and we were) -- but really we were just SO exhausted and happy to be going back to our hotel to sleep!!!

It was a busy... but perfect first day in Thailand!!!
