Quiet, Perfect Saturday.

Saturday was a perfect day. The weather was a little cooler. Most of the volunteers were gone for the weekend. And we were able to explore some colonies.

As we drove into the colony we go to for construction days, I was looking forward to wandering and mingling with the people of the colony. We hopped out of the van and headed towards the old folks home to visit those wonderful people again. As we walked into the ladies side, their faces lit up as they saw us enter. We sat with them, exchanged names, and held each other hands. One sweet lady kissed my hand.

Our next stop was the Bendu Art school - the same one we went to on construction day. Except this time, the artist were painting. Myra and I were able to meet Trisha's mom. Trisha is a girl attending Rising Star who had told us her mom lived at this colony so we really wanted to find her. Myra showed her a picture of Trisha with some Art she had done in Myra's art talent class.. They are definitely alike!

It was so fun to meet her. And to see how happy she was when Myra showed her the picture of Trisha!

It was amazing to see these leprosy afflicted people paint. They are so talented despite the challenges they are facing!

We wandered around the colony and then to another colony. All the people would light up and wave to us as we passed by. The kids would look at us and smile. It was just wonderful to say hi, shake their hands and ask their names. I loved every minute of it.

It truly was a perfect day. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to go and just visit the people and talk to them. They are so endearing and their smiles just brighten my day!
